Hello, let me introduce myself, my name is Lucie Sivicka and I am originally from the Czech Republic, from a small town called Zatec, famous for its hops and beer.
I have been living in Penzance since 2017 with my English partner and our son and deeply love the town and surrounding area. I draw a lot of my inspiration from the sea and the local wild swimmers.
I studied in the Czech Republic's premiere art and ceramic school in the small town of Bechyne for 4 years and then went on to make pottery and throw for 20 years for various companies in Prague and also for myself in my own studio. I have worked with NGOs in the Czech Republic to make pottery items with the elderly in hospital and have made workshops for children in orphanages and in special educational needs schools.
I also fell in love with making stained glass items, especially windows and lamp shades using both the leading and Tiffanny techniques. My stained glass lamp shades have been given as gifts by prestigious organisations to numerous famous Czech musicians, actors and two of the most recent Czech presidents.
I have made large stained glass windows for the world famous Zatec brewery and the top hotel in my home town of Zatec, as well as many windows for private homes. I worked alongside a locally renowned stained glass artist in Penzance for a number of years.
I love working with both clay and glass. I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy making it.
